archives & beyond is a intergenerational art project that explores working methods and aspects of collective performance production. it addresses memory culture, considers ephemeral arts, and practices their archiving. the multi-step re-performance project references haussagen, a theatrical performance (kampnagel 1995), and its themes of home and power. the new group presented an initial version in february at lichthof theater hamburg, and a second translation in august at the tinguely museum basel, this time in a white cube. subsequently, the results and artifacts are being translated into media within the exhibition at kasko basel and made publicly accessible in the hgk basel fhnw media library. performance art can only write history if it records itself in the archive.

the multi-phase performance project archives & beyond revolves around the exploration of the ‚feminine‘ knowledge of different generations of female artists and collective working methods today. the transmedia artists dorothee daphi (hamburg) and pascale grau (basel) took their joint production haussaegen (1995) as the starting point for an interdisciplinary research process involving both young and established artists. in the preceding ‚revisited performance‘ carried out in hamburg, basel, and berlin, concepts and practices of production were explored and transformed. the ensuing recordings and findings assembled by the participating artists were incorporated into the current performance in collective authorship. the themes of home, power, and the archive are at the heart of the performance, which navigates between the fields of theater, installation and exhibition.
